Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies can be considered a classical novel. A classic in the respect that the author creates special circumstances under which abnormal actions and functions mutate into everyday activity. All of these concepts and ideals are generated by Golding to finally produce a novel of both perplexity and perfection.
Of all the films that cry out to be remade, the call of Brook's "Lord of the Flies" is very faint indeed. But it has been heard by Harry Hook and Sara Schiff, who have directed and written this new and anemic Classics Illustrated version of the story.
Slide 6: Lord of the Flies continued The novel takes place during a fictional nuclear war. A group of British schoolboys are flown out of their country to protect them from the horrors of war. Civ & Lit - Miller/Hinrichs

This theme is hidden on a level beneath the story: it is possible to read The Lord of the Flies as just an adventure novel. If we did... the title would remain a mystery, for only through meaning the novel for meaning would reveal the evil in all of us: the title is a literal translation of the word Beelzebub, the most evil of devils in Hebrew mythology.
Lord of the Flies is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. This new digital transfer was created from a 35mm answer print, made from the original negative. The sound was created from a 35mm optical audio track positive. This transfer was supervised by Gerald Feil. Telecine colorist: Chris Ryan/Nice Shoes, NYC; Telecine supervisor: Lee Kline
