Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal for Xbox 360 Review - Xbox 360 Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal Review Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal is a third-person action romp that blatantly borrows a number of concepts from Sony's Ratchet & Clank series. In a nutshell, you work your way through large 3D environments and lay waste to the enemies you encounter using the characters' comical kung fu attacks or the different Acme-inspired weapons that are available within each area. If you disregard the fact that gun violence is very out of character for the Looney Tunes gang, then the game's biggest problem is that it tries to copy Ratchet & Clank but doesn't actually come anywhere close to delivering the same amount of fun or variety that the typical Ratchet & Clank game does. The action is boring, and the presentation is half-hearted and almost devoid of humor. Furthermore, thanks to the sloppy programming, the simple act of playing the game often feels like an exercise in frustration.

The original Looney Tunes theatrical series ran from 1930 to 1969 (the last short being "Injun Trouble", starring Cool Cat). During part of the 1960s, the shorts were produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises after Warner Bros shut down their animation studios. The shorts from this era can be identified by the fact that they open with a different title sequence featuring stylized limited animation and graphics on a black background and a re-arranged version of "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down," arranged by William Lava. Seventy years ago, in April of 1930, the first Looney Tunes cartoon was released. It was an eight minute musical adventure called Sinkin' in the Bathtub, starring two new characters named Bosko and Honey. Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising -- two ex-Disney animators -- partnered with producer Leon Schlesinger to create the cartoon, which was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. None of them could have imagined that seventy years later this cartoon would be considered a milestone in animation history. They would never have believed that anyone would still care after all these years.
