When you talk to a character, you get a list of possible lines to say – some parts of conversations will happen automatically (as will some of the action – known as “cut scenes”, these progress the plot, often by showing you what is happening somewhere else in the game-world, without user intervention).

    The original Super Monkey Ball was a fast-paced game, with its roots firmly planted in the arcades. SMB Adventure, on the other hand, seems to move at a snail’s pace. Unskipable text and cutscenes crop up every few seconds, load screens appear often and will eat up valuable minutes of your life in every play session, and even the level designs seem intended to make you stop every few seconds and look around to make you figure out just where you need to go.

    The first Super Monkey Ball was one of the best titles of 2001, and this year’s installment is even better. From both single-player and multi-player modes, the original game was almost unmatched as far as sheer addictiveness and replay value and the sequel builds upon these successes. It was indeed, a promising start for the newly minted third-party. SMB was incredibly fun throughout yet there was enough skill involved to hook older players as well. The second time around ... this is an absolute must buy with improved graphics and many new modes of play. The main object remains the same, guide your monkey through an obstacle course of levels, each more difficult and ingenious than the last.

    With simple controls, colorful graphics, and upbeat tunes, Super Monkey Ball is geared towards players of all skill levels and ages. Tons of unique stages, including beginner, normal, professional, and special hidden bonus stages, can challenge newbies or experienced gamers.
