Storage lockers are available in secure areas of both the Lindbergh and Humphrey terminals. The locker dimensions are about 23" tall by 15" wide by 35" deep, and can accommodate carry-on-sized luggage. For security purposes, lockers are equipped with fingerprint technology to ensure only those who store the bags can retrieve them. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is the first airport in the nation to use such locker technology. Locker rental costs $2 per hour, with a maximum daily charge of $6.

Invincible II lockers are designed for heavy duty use in the storage of athletic gear, or wherever a high degree of ventilation is required. The doors and sides are perforated with a diamond-shaped pattern for the free flow of air. For extra durability, the doors are made from 14 gauge steel, and the sides, tops, bottoms and shelves are 16 gauge steel. Backs are 18 gauge. Vincent Blasi was quoted in a 1/11 New York Times article about a policy prohibiting firefighters from displaying anything but their names on their firehouse lockers, including stickers of American flags. He explained that public employees generally have less right to free expression than ordinary citizens, but that "speech on a matter of public concern" is protected. He noted that the fire department's case-by-case enforcement could open the door for political or prejudicial actions when deciding which material would be acceptable. "If you allow the American flag," he said, "you have got to allow its ideological opposite, whatever that may be."
