Liv Ullmann was born near her Primary Saturn in Tokyo, which runs a vertical, Midheaven position over central Japan in . Her father was employed there as an engineer, designing aircraft. After the German invasion of Norway, her Norwegian parents moved the family to Toronto and, shortly afterward, to New York.
Liv Ullmann has a dreamy nature and an inclination to be influenced or led easily by other people. Liv looks for the perfect mate and dream of fulfillment. Liv Ullmann must learn to deal with her extreme idealism and to face life a little more realistically.
Liv Ullmann From All Movie Guide: Though born a citizen of Norway, Liv Ullmann did not set foot in her homeland until she was seven years old. The daughter of a Norwegian engineer stationed in Japan at the time of her birth, Ullmann moved to Canada when World War II broke out, then relocated to Norway in 1946, where she received the bulk of her education. Deciding upon an acting career, she studied at the Webber-Douglas academy in London. Ullmann began her stage work in Stavanger and Oslo, and in the late '50s, she starred in the Norwegian production of The Diary of Anne Frank.
Shot in color, The Passion of Anna (1969) yet again takes place on a remote island, where Andreas (Max Von Sydow) lives a solitary existence, until widowed Anna (Liv Ullmann) comes along. She tries to convince herself that she had a happy marriage, but Andreas knows differently. When Anna accidentally leaves her purse behind, Andreas reads a letter from her husband attempting to end the marriage. Nevertheless, Anna moves in with him and the cycle repeats. Bibi Andersson adds another layer as a confused married woman who has a brief fling with Andreas. Strangely, Bergman occasionally cuts away from the action with on-camera interviews of the actors explaining their characters' motivations.
