The Litchfield Hills (... known as the Northwest Hills or simply The Foothills) is a geographic region of the U.S. state of Connecticut located in the northwestern corner of the state. It is a term that is roughly coterminous with the boundaries of Litchfield County, for which it is named. The geographic region includes two officially designated regions: rural Northwestern Connecticut, and the area associated with the city of Torrington (also known as the Upper Naugatuck River Valley or simply Litchfield Hills).
The Litchfield Hills are the link between the New York Hudson Highlands and Massachusett's Berkshire Mountains. The area includes over twenty towns and encompasses nearly 20% of the total area of the state.

Woodbury and the rest of Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills, considered the Antiques Capital of the World has a huge number of shops, galleries, flea markets, boutiques and places for browsing. We’ve ... thrown in fine art galleries, historic house museums to enhance the trip.
Saturday night, September 15th, at 7:30 PM, the newly chartered Rotary Club of Litchfield Hills is bringing 14 boys rescued from the dump in Chinandega, Nicaragua, to St. Anthony of Padua Church in Litchfield (49 South Street-Route 63, Suggested Donation $10.00). The boys, ages 9 to 14 years have performed before the Pope and President Clinton and on this trip will be singing at the United Nations in New York. We wish to create awareness in support of the multifaceted Rotary project which rescued and nurtures them, providing nutritious food, clothing housing and medical care for thousands of refugees from Hurricaine Mitch, including schools for both sighted and blind children, and promoting self-sustaining micro-farming communities.

Litchfield L[I]tchfield Hills tourist area in the northwest corner of the state of Connecticut is pristine, green and clean. Main streets retain their identity and integrity. Trees count. Natural heritage is preserved. The states meandering tree-lined byways reveal pretty villages with stunning 18th through mid 19th century architecture, covered bridges, well presented nature centers and state parks. Much to the relief of visitors who appreciate heritage and natural beauty, the area is almost completely devoid of the “strip and mall” mentality that has gripped North America.
