For the first time on May 16, 2005 Lita turned heel. She became caught up in the Love Triangle with Edge and Matt. In reality Matt claimed that Lita had cheated on him with his best friend Edge. Matt posted comments all over his website about the situation. Lita still managed to stay in the business by continuing her fued with Trish. Lita trained Christy Hemme for a match against Trish at Wrestlemania (Christy lost).

When she finally arrives in OVW, Lita forges an alliance with Trish to take down the Queen Giant, Chyna. In the battle though, Trish is killed by Chyna, which enrages Lita and triggers her hair turning blonde and spiky and her transforming into the legendary "Luchador" status. In her new form, Lita defeats Chyna as OVW starts to self-destruct. Lita made it out of OVW just barely alive. Later on, she revives her fallen allies using the WWF Reptile Testicles to bring them back to life.

Lita started her WWE career alongside Essa Rios. She was told to be like Essa, mimicking moves and style. The debuted Feb. 2000. Soon Lita became too popular and she separated from Essa and combined forces with the Hardy Boyz. Together they formed Team Extreme. At 2000 Fully Loaded, Team Extreme took on T&A & Trish in the 1st ever 6-person Intergender tag team match.

Lita would later wrestle Molly for her title at Survivor Series, but would lose to her. On the RAW Roulette edition of RAW in November, Lita faced Victoria in the show’s first ever Women’s steel cage match wich was won by Victoria. She and Trish Stratus ... had a male versus female feud with Chris Jericho and Christian with whom they had two “Battle of the Sexes” matches, both of which were won by the men. Jericho also brought Matt Hardy to RAW to guest star on the Highlight Reel. Matt dumped her after it appeared he would propose.

In Phenoix's belly, Lita nd Trish seperate and the two try to rescue their absorbed daughters and friends out of Buu Phenoix, including the much more innocent Melina Buu. Having rescued their friends and family from her, Buu changes again and ages down to her youngest and most powerful form, Buuly Buuly! Buuly Buuly then procedes to destroy the entire WWE world, right before Lita can allow her, Trish, Mickie, Candice, Christy, and the rest of their friends to escape into ECW.

As Women’s champion, Lita constantly defended the title. From Triple threats, Bra and Panties to Hardcore matches, she had an undefeated run in the women’s division over wrestlers such as Ivory, Trish Stratus, Jacqueline, and Terri Runnels. She finally lost the title to Ivory on November 2, 2000, in a Fatal-4-Away match with Trish and Jacqueline when Edge and Christian ran in to help Ivory win.
