EUs Competitiveness Council has decided to repeal liner shippings block exemption to antitrust law. Liner conferences, which publish freight rate tariffs, and previously fixed prices and capacity, will be illegal in trades serving Europe from October 2008.

A number of surveys have been performed to explore the connection between star formation and LINER activity. If a connection can be found between star formation activity and LINER activity, then this strengthens the possibility that LINERs are powered by the hot stars found in star formation regions. However, if star formation cannot be found in LINERs, then this definitively excludes star formation as powering LINER emission.

The liner consists of a two-foot layer of low-permeability, re-compacted clay soil. Over this layer, a 60-mil, high-density polyethelene (HDPE) secondary plastic liner is installed to cover the entire bottom and sides of the landfill cell. This plastic liner, which is chemical resistant to corrosion and damage, is then welded together and tested to ensure a continuous seal in accordance with regulatory requirements.
