If Denis performs the way he is expected to, the Tampa Bay Lightning will be a force to be reckoned with this season. The three-headed monster of Vincent Lecavalier, Brad Richards, and Martin St. Louis will once again be the core of the Lightning's offense and will make the team serious Stanley Cup contenders this season. Be there from the start with your Tampa Bay Lightning tickets!

Throughout March, the Lightning had been switching places with the Atlanta Thrashers for first place in the Southeast Division. With a chance to overtake the Thrashers one final time and once again become division champions for the third time in team history, on April 6, 2007, in the final week of the regular season, the Lighting suffered a loss to the Florida Panthers, the night before the season finale in Atlanta. That same night, the Thrashers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, and clinched the division. For the Lightning, this meant having to settle for the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, with a final record of 43-33-5 (93 points).
The Lightning had a strong opportunity to build on their lead at 16:12 when center Vincent Lecavalier fed defenseman Cory Sarich in the right circle. Sarich teed up a slapper but Kiprusoff made a terrific save with his left pad.

The Tampa Bay Lightning retrned to the NHL playoffs in 2003 and brought home a Stanley Cup in 2004. That 2003-04 championship season began with a sen game winning streak. The Lightning put Martin St. Louis on the ice and St. Louis responded by leading the NHL with 56 assist and 35 goals on the year, and winning the Hart Trophy as the NHL MVP. The Lightning's resurgence and 46-21-8-6 record gave head coach John Tortorella the NHL Coach of the Year Award. Tortorella led the Lightning into the first round where they sent the New York Islanders packing after five games. Amazingly, the upstart Lightning finished the second round with a clean sweep of the fables Montreal Canadiens and headed for their first NHL Eastern Conference Finals.
After a beginning filled with scandal, including connections to Japanese crime families, rumors of bankruptcy and investigations by the IRS, the Tampa Bay Lightning worked hard to build up a respectable reputation. When he lost $20 million in the 1998-99 season, owner Art Williams sold the team to Detroit Pistons owner Bill Davidson for $115 million. Anxious to turn the team around, Davidson made some major changes to management. He appointed Ron Campbell as team president, who in turn fired and hired many employees. Campbell fired Jacques Demers and replaced him with Ottawa Senators general manger Rick Dudley. In his first act as general manager, Dudley brought Vipers coach Steve Ludzik in as Tampa Bay’s new coach.
Tampabay.com [Y]o, thomassssutra, the Lightning were offered an Anaheim goalie with a lot of talent (he's a Russian with a last name like bad Scrabble hand) for a fourth round draft pick. The Bolts couldn't make the deal because the pending sale tied their hands as far as increasing payroll. the goalie was claimed off waivers by the Coyotes and he has been sensational in four starts (4 wins and a .954 save percentage).
