The Lexus GS sedans shook up the mid-luxury segment with high levels of performance and bold design. Both models receive significant enhancements for 2001. The V8-powered GS 400 becomes the GS 430 with the installation of a larger 4.3-liter engine. The GS 300 continues with its potent 3.0-liter, 220-horsepower inline-six engine and gains E-Shift steering wheel shift controls. Both models feature front and rear design detail revisions and a new wheel design. New curtain airbags for the driver and front passenger bolster an already impressive array of safety technology.

New Lexus GS300 Introduction The Lexus GS models deliver the sharp driving dynamics of a sports sedan with the refinement and quality of a Lexus luxury sedan. Rear-wheel drive, a four-wheel double-wishbone independent suspension, and a luxurious cabin are the key ingredients to this formula. The GS 430 is an exciting sports sedan with a 300-horsepower V8 that gobbles real estate and clings to the road in high-speed sweepers. The GS 300, meanwhile, purrs along with one of the smoothest six-cylinder engines in the class. Both are big, sophisticated luxury sedans that whisk four people along in leather-and-wood-trimmed comfort. They offer a nice balance between smooth ride and responsive handling.
