DLN aims at supporting NGO’s in Lesotho in their work to develop civil society. DLN uses its network of people and organisations in Lesotho to pinpoint beneficiaries of DLN’s support – and to keep an eye on that funding is used according to agreements made. DLN wishes to enhance knowledge of the living conditions in Lesotho and to seek funding from foundations, business enterprises and organisations for actual projects in Lesotho. WFP plans to provide food aid to about 115,000 people in Lesotho from July through to December 2006 under Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation 10310. Distributions will target HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and mother-and-child health clinics; programmes for orphans and other vulnerable children; and food-for-work projects. WFP will require about 8,000 tonnes of grain to meet these needs.
