APRIL 19--For the third year running, Lenny Kravitz has been sued over a toilet that overflowed in the rock star's Manhattan penthouse in mid-2004. As with two prior lawsuits, Kravitz has just been named in a New York State Supreme Court complaint charging him with negligence in connection with the August 2004 toilet incident. This time, the Pacific Indemnity Insurance Company wants Kravitz to reimburse it for $457,339.11, the amount the firm says it paid policyholder Mark Van Lith for damages to his $2.87 million fourth-floor apartment. A copy of Lenny's latest loo lawsuit, filed Monday, can be found below. Two other insurance firms have sued Kravitz for similar payments made to downstairs neighbors whose swanky spaces were damaged by the urban cascade. The prior lawsuits, both of which are pending, seek $333,849 and $9387, respectively, in connection with Kravitz's crammed commode.
Lenny Kravitz: The modern master of multi-cultural pop-music cool, Lenny Kravitz has been strutting his bell-bottomed, open-shirted stuff since 1990's "Let Love Rule." Though his musical debts to Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone may be audible so some, Kravitz is a vital songwriting talent, a gifted musician, and a fine singer. Records such as "Mama Said," from 1991, and "5," from 1998 provide ample proof that Kravitz has taken his influences funk, rock, and reggae and welded them into something all his own. The man is much more than the sum of his cheekbones.
Lenny Kravitz - Baptism Minister of rock: Lenny Kravitz has a real winner with Baptism. It sets out to quantify Kravitz's life so far, and in the process, shine a ray of hope onto those who agree with what he has to say.
When Lenny Kravitz entered the world, these stories made the front page of the nation's newspapers: In Washington, D.C., President Johnson meets with Irish President Eamon de Valera. In New York, the Pulitzer committee announces that there is no drama, fiction or music worthy of the Pulitzer Prize. French President Charles de Gaulle opens the ceremony for the 800th anniversary of Notre Dame. In Cairo, the Soviet Union grants the United Arab Republic a $200 million loan. In Bolivia, President Victor Paz Estensoro wins a third term in office. In Paris, Manilo Brosio is elected to follow Kirk Stikker as the head of NATO.
Lenny Kravitz has fused a broad range of styles from the 1960s and 1970s to create his own blend of psychedelia, funk, soul, and rock. Initially derided as an unoriginal throwback to the 1960s, Kravitz went on to develop his diverse style, with its strong message of love and peace, earning greater respect and wider popularity with his second and third albums. A multitalented musician, Kravitz played almost all the instruments on his first two releases. He went on to collaborate with others in the rock industry, both as a songwriter and producer, on a number of different projects. The product of a widely varied background, Kravitz sought to express the range of his influences through the songs and sounds he created.
