Lego Star Wars: The Video Game: Characters
built 190 days ago
Lego Star Wars: The Video Game Luckily, Lego Star Wars throws in a fistful of twists. First, different heroes have different powers. The Jedis can use their force abilities to thrust battle droids out of the picture or manipulate their environment. Padmé has a handy grappling gun with which she can reach new levels. C3-PO and R2-D2 can access special switches, young Anakin can climb through vents, and even Jar-Jar Binks has a mighty leap to prove he’s not entirely worthless. This becomes important, because the game allows you to switch between characters as you go, sometimes starting you off with a small party, then introducing new heroes during the scene.
Coming this fall for multiple platforms*, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy further celebrates the characters of the Star Wars galaxy. In addition to providing another 50-plus humans, droids and exotic aliens to unlock, the game ... places a greater emphasis on unique character actions. Also, console and Windows versions of LEGO Star Wars II allow you to import unlocked characters from the first game with a save file. It doesn't take Yoda's wisdom to realize that equates to more than 100 characters available for Free Play mode -- not to mention the millions more you can create yourself via the game's unique customization system (look for further details on this feature in a future story).
If multiplayer is your thing, then LEGO Star Wars has that .... Just like last year's title, The Original Trilogy allows for immediate "Drop in/ Drop Out" two-player co-op at any time with a few small tweaks thrown in for good measure. Take the camera, for instance. Now it draws back much further than it use to before requiring characters to move closer to one another. There's an all-new (and extensive) character creation feature built-in as well, and it allows users of vastly different play styles and preferences to hook up however they want. Sadly, online co-op still isn't supported in any of the console or PC versions, and if one person moves to the next screen by himself, player two is auto-transported to that location no matter what he might be in the middle of doing.

Lego Star Wars: The Video Game for the Nintendo GameCube Lego Star Wars: The Video Game has a basic control scheme that varies only slightly between different types of characters. Most characters attack with the B button and jump (or hover if available) with the A button. Jedi and Sith use the X button to manipulate objects with the Force, while the Y button is how you transfer your control to one of the other open characters.

Lego Star Wars contains a total of 56 playable characters. The playable characters are modeled like actual Lego parts (but with far more mobility) and when they die, fall to pieces like an actual Lego minifigure. There are a wide variety of characters included in the game, all of which are unlocked by completing levels or by purchasing them at Dexter's Diner. Characters are divided into groups according to certain skills. For instance, Jedi can double-jump, use lightsabers, and have control of the force which they can use to activate Lego contraptions or defeat certain enemies. Characters who carry blasters have the ability to grapple.
