-Legit (a.k.a The Savage), comin' straight out the Hillside with that Northern Cali Mobb sound, has been in the game for over 10 years. Before his rapping days B-Legit was a hustler on the streets of Vallejo (a.k.a Valley Jo, V-Town). He grew up in a single parent house surrounded by musical influences but still ran the streets.

That's how it tends to go on "Word Pimpin" - short doses of B-Legit surrounded by large portions of other MC's trying to make a name for themselves. One of those who does so successfully here is Q-Z; ironically, he's reminiscent of Kurupt back in the early part of his career with Death Row and the debut of Tha Dogg Pound that came shortly thereafter. Q's definitely deft with the tongue and flipping syllables, though not at too much expense to clear diction. Once again "Heat Rock" provides the illustration:

B-Legit (aka the Savage) had previously performed with the Click before striking out on his own with 1995's Tryin' to Get a Buck. For his second release, 1996's Hemp Museum, he moved to Jive Records and worked with E-40 and Kurupt (the Dogg Pound); Ghetto Smile followed in 1997, and two years later B-Legit resurfaced with Hempin' Ain't Easy and then Hempin' in mid-2000. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
