Christmas in Aspen - Lee Ann Womack's holiday season is in high gear. She spent yesterday, Thursday, on top of Aspen Mountain taping her part of an upcoming ABC-TV Christmas special, "Christmas in Aspen." It will air December 8th. The other musical guests include Barry Manilow, Kenny G, and Johnny Mathis.

The exhibit closes with a live auction of the 100-pound guitars at the GuitarTown Auction Gala Event on Feb. 23 to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, The DISTRICT, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the United Way of Nashville.

Christmas Comes Early - [Danny] Harris, producer with Tall Pony Productions was on top of Aspen Mountain yesterday to tape county star Lee Ann Womack for a segment of ABC's "Christmas in Aspen." Today, the inimitable Johnny Mathis will be taped in the main lodge. Womack and Mathis have both released new Christmas CDs, as has Barry Manilow, who is scheduled to appear in Saturday's taping at the Wheeler.

Texas native Lee Ann Womack grew up between the speakers of her stereo, listening to the Grand Ole Opry and picking songs for her father Aubrey Lee Womack, a part-time DJ, to play on the air. As a result, Womack's own music has a strong traditional bent. She completed her first album before she graduated from college at Nashville's Belmont University.

To honor the wounded, Lee Ann partnered with the Coalition To Salute America's Heroes in late 2004 and performed for their Wounded Warrior Convention in Orlando. She visited with the wounded at Bethesda Naval Hospital in the summer of 2005. Most recently, she visited the wounded at Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany.

Lee Ann Womack was born Aug. 19, 1966, in Jacksonville, Texas. Her father was a part-time disc jockey who frequently took her to the studio and let her pick out records for him to play.
