LeBron became famous because he can ball better than any high schooler in America. When he was a junior in high school, Sports Illustrated put him on their cover, calling James "The Chosen One." Since then, he has become as well known a basketball player as any collegiate or pro athlete who has ever played the game. His games were televised on ESPN and pay-per-view -- a first in high school hoops ever. This forward is the most sought after kid to declare himself eligible for the draft after high school graduation.

Already in market is the Sprite LeBron23-23 promotion which gives people a chance to help create a unique theme song for NBA star LeBron James. Over the next several weeks other programs will begin to roll out including new Coca-Cola NASCAR advertising, activation around Diet Coke and the Academy Awards, and the kickoff of Coca-Cola and NCAA basketball activities leading up to the 2007 Final Four in Atlanta.

As LeBron prepared for the basketball season, word began to spread that SVSM had a bona fide phenom on its hands. Expecting a huge crowd for their 2000-01 season opener, the Fighting Irish scheduled the game at the University of Akron’s James A. Rhodes Arena. Some 5,000 fans packed the house. LeBron paced SVSM to an easy victory, and the team rolled from there.

From an early age, LeBron showed tremendous instincts for basketball. Gloria gave him a miniature hoop and ball when he was an infant, and he amused himself for hours each day with the toys. LeBron ... had the genes necessary to spawn a long-limbed basketball phenom. Though Gloria stands only 5-5, she has relatives who are much taller.

It didn't take long for LeBron and his crew to gain recognition around Akron. They learned the fundamentals of basketball from Drambot and developed tremendous chemistry with one another. Literally and figuratively, LeBron was head-and-shoulders above his friends. By the eighth grade he was six feet tall, could play all five positions and had a sixth sense for the game.
