built 633 days ago
Learning is the acquisition and development of memories and behaviors, including skills, knowledge, understanding, values, and wisdom. It is the product of experience and the goal of education. Learning ranges from simple forms of learning such as habituation and classical conditioning seen in many animal species, to more complex activities such as play, seen only in relatively intelligent animals.[1][2] Learning has ... been mathematically described as a differential equation of knowledge with respect to time, or the change in knowledge in time due to a number of interacting factors (constants and variables) such as initial knowledge, motivation, intelligence, knowledge anchorage or resistance, etc.[3][4]

Learning-styles theories have been criticized by many. Some psychologists and neuroscientists have questioned the scientific basis for these models and the theories on which they are based. Many educational psychologists believe that there is little evidence for the efficacy of most learning style models, and furthermore, that the models often rest on dubious theoretical grounds.[1] According to Stahl,[2] there has been an "utter failure to find that assessing children's learning styles and matching to instructional methods has any effect on their learning."

Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced that UMC has adopted Synopsys TetraMAX® diagnostics to accelerate yield learning for designs that utilize the Synopsys DFT MAX scan compression automation solution. Rapid yield learning depends on the accuracy and efficiency of failure analysis, a manually intensive and time-consuming process of identifying the individual circuit in a design that could cause a device to fail. Using Synopsys TetraMAX diagnostics to perform this task automatically on DFT MAX-compressed scan patterns, UMC engineers were able to substantially decrease the time and effort required for failure analysis.
