Tuscania lies 70km north west of Rome (confusingly still in Lazio not Tuscany). What confirmed Tuscania’s credentials beyond any doubt was the reinvigorating effect the visit to this town had on a group of weary travellers at the end of a week when symptoms of medieval town fatigue were starting to show.
