Cub Cadet began as a project by International Harvester to produce a heavy-duty lawn tractor. Using parts from the popular Cub series tractors, IH built a small tractor named the Cub Cadet. International's Lawn Products Group to MTD in 1981 as the subsidiary Cub Cadet Corporation. In 1985, CCC built a new factory in Brownsville, Tennessee.

The Kubota ZD21 costs about $9500-$10500 depending on where you buy it at, but owners have nothing but praise for this model. Consumers say the ZD21 scores well in performance and reliability and one even says it's a "mowing machine". They say it mows even, turns easy, and drives smoothly. Many consumers say the Kubota zero turn mower is the best on the market and outdoes those by John Deere, New Holland, Exmark, and Cub Cadet. Other similar models from Kubota include the ZD18F, ZD25F, ZD28F, ZD-PRO, ZG20, ZG23, and the new line of diesel mowers (ZD321, ZD326, ZD331). For maneuverability, nothing beats a zero-turn mower.

This brief review of the Cub Cadet i1050 zero-turn lawn tractor makes special mention of its steering wheel, which makes it easier to steer than the dual-lever steering on most zero-turn mowers.
