WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Law enforcement officers across the country agree that roadblock campaigns are not effective in targeting and arresting drunk drivers, according to a new report by the American Beverage Institute. The report, which features quotes from the nation's leading traffic safety experts and police officers who have patrolled roadblocks firsthand, is further evidence that the nation is on the wrong track in its efforts to combat drunk driving.

The award, presented during a ceremony held yesterday in New Orleans, recognizes members of law enforcement for their work in domestic violence prevention and awareness in local communities across the country. Katherine Greene, regional president, and Alice Brennan, assistant general counsel, both of Verizon Wireless, presented the award, along with a $10,000 financial grant to the New Orleans Family Justice Center, a new domestic violence prevention center, in honor of Superintendent Riley's contributions.
