This version of the Latin Kings—200 members of the newly formed Cultural Association of Latin Kings and Queens of Catalonia—was recognized in July as a civic group that can apply for money for projects to improve their members’ prospects. To reap such rewards, these Kings wrote a constitution, vowing to reject violence, cooperate with authorities and obey the laws of their new land.

The 38-count indictment charged that the Latin Kings operated as a criminal RICO enterprise in Milwaukee and other parts of Wisconsin from January of 1998 through September 27, 2005, the date of the indictment. The indictment contained specific allegations regarding four murders and 38 attempted murders that were allegedly committed by the defendants. The indictment ... alleged that the Latin Kings had an established hierarchy, requiring the payment of membership and chapter dues paid from drug trafficking and robberies.[3]

Twelve indictments were unsealed in federal court charging 15 individuals with distributing crack cocaine. In state court, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office charged 22 defendants with state drug crimes.
