Last Days: People
built 191 days ago
The last days were then, in the first century. That was the terminal generation of Old Covenant Israel. Shiloh (Christ) was going to gather the people to Him at that time and He did. Throughout His ministry He issued scathing rebukes of the Jewish leaders and warned them to save themselves from the wrath to come. It is farfetched to think that wrath is yet to come. If it is, they didn't have anything to worry about!
Talk of peace and safety are a sign of the last days. It’s in the Bible, 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3, NIV. "For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."
Paul (the Apostle) ... wrote of the Last Days in his second letter to his young protégé Timothy at 2 Timothy 3:1-5, where he said, ‘Recognize that the Last Days will bring fierce times. People will love themselves and money. They’ll be braggers, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, and disloyal. They won’t love their families or be willing to agree on anything; they’ll be slanderers who don’t have any self-control; they’ll be wild and won’t love anything that is good; they’ll be betrayers who are headstrongand proud; they’ll prefer pleasures to caring about God, and they’ll have a form of religion, but they won’t follow it.’
The last days is the time when such an ideal will be realized. It is the time when the Second Advent will occur. Accordingly, in the last days, there will be no external catastrophic phenomena such as judgment by fire, the destruction of the earth or people levitating into the air. Instead, it is a time when the history of evil entangled with countless tragedies will be untangled.

Even a cursory reading of the scripture with one's mind engaged quickly reveals that the end in view is the last days of Old Covenant Judaism. As early as Genesis 49, Jacob/Israel told his children what would happen in the last days, "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days." (v.1) He continues with the blessing of each of his sons and when he gets to Judah we get some useful information, "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be." (v. 10)
Men posing as Jesus will try to deceive people in the last days. It’s in the Bible, Matthew 24:23-24, NIV. "At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not believe it. For false Christ’s and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect -- if that were possible."
