Larry Parks (13 December 1914, Olathe, Kansas - 13 April 1975, Studio City, California), was an American stage and movie actor. His career was virtually ended when he admitted to having once been a member of a Communist party cell, an admission that led to his blacklisting by all Hollywood studios.

Returning to Birmingham, Larry became a progress-chaser in the Lucas Turbines factory, a job that allowed him much time to jot down ideas for cartoons, whether ‘in the loo or behind packing cases’. Punch published one of his cartoons for the first time in 1954, and the following year he gained a staff position on the Daily Express. However, his achievement seemed short-lived, for the editor, returning from a leave of absence, chose to sack all those he hadn't taken on himself.

In this quasi-sequel to 1941's Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Terpsichore (Rita Hayworth), the Greek muse of dance, learns that a Broadway producer (Larry Parks) is mounting a show about her. Not at all pleased, she descends from the heavens to quash the project. But things get complicated when she falls for the producer and can't risk telling him who she really is! The film was remade again in 1980 as Xanadu, starring Olivia Newton-John.

The 28 tracks on this CD were recorded between 1947 and 1953 and include standards and novelty numbers, songs from her films and duets with Larry Parks (her husband), Gene Kelly and Jimmy Durante. This is the first Betty Garrett solo CD and almost all of the tracks are appearing on CD for the first time.

Larry turned toward the wall behind him and caught his reflection in a large framed photograph of his father straining to reel in a huge marlin on a charter boat in the Bahamas. He considered all the time he'd wasted attending that leadership-development workshop the previous week, and the additional pressure it had put on him. The circles darkening under his eyes reminded him of how badly he wanted one really good night's sleep.
