Larry Fine: Wife
built 140 days ago
Larry Fine's wife, Mabel, died in 1967. He then lived at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood until 1970, then moved to the Motion Picture House, an industry retirement community in Woodland Hills.
Because of his prodigal ways and his wife's dislike for housekeeping, Larry and his family lived in hotels — first in the President Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where his daughter Phyllis was raised, then the Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood. Not until the late 1940s did Larry buy a wonderful Mediterranean home in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, California.
Larry was born in Coney Islandto sideshow performers on the carnival circuit who soon had to give him up when he was soon diagnosed with a deep seated fear of clowns. With circus life out of the question, he was adopted from an ad in Billboard magazine by a quiet accountant and his schoolteacher wife in Waterloo Ontario.
