Tech rampage brings back memories of ASL shooting (TriCities.com 04-17-07) Lady Liberty says: If there's one thing that makes her sicker than the shootings on Monday, it's the reaction to the school shootings years before at Appalachian Law School. Three people died, but others were likely saved when a couple of students got their own firearms and subdued the shooter. Despite the obvious benefits of an effective self defense, the school now bans all firearms on campus. Gosh, maybe it should have made murder illegal there, too, just so such things wouldn't happen <cough>.

Legal loophole gives mentally ill access to guns (CNN 04-24-07) Lady Liberty says: She continues to be perfectly willing to stipulate that the mentally ill shouldn't be wandering around with a loaded firearm. That being said, she has serious fears that any new law will be (pardon the pun) overkill, and serious doubts that any new law ... invasive will offer any guarantees of safety. And don't get her started on the definitions of mental illness or the determination of same!
