Busch/Penske testing: Kurt Busch was at Lakeland Speedway last Wednesday getting acquainted with his new team. Breaking in the #2 Miller Lite Dodge with Busch was crew chief Roy McCauley and new car chief Corey Tucker, who honed his skills on Ryan Newman's Penske team that won six races in nine Busch Series starts last year.

At the close of the 2002 season, Kurt Busch may have been the only driver sad to see the season come to an end. He literally set the NASCAR world on fire by winning three of the last five events on the Winston Cup schedule. Were it not for a string of three poor finishes in the month of August, Busch may very well have contended for the 2002 title.
Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart have the honors of being the first drivers hauled into the NASCAR trailer in 2008. Stewart turned Busch into the wall while trying to get around him -- and then shoved Gibbs teammate Denny Hamlin onto the grass. Busch didn't take too kindly to that and drove up alongside Stewart under caution and slammed his car into the right side of Stewart's.
Busch, Edwards to tire test: Kurt Busch sported new colors today at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Dressed in a brand new blue firesuit, Busch took his first laps in the historic #2 Miller Lite car. Busch and three-time Atlanta Motor Speedway winner, #99-Carl Edwards, were at the track today to assist Goodyear Racing Tires with the first of a two-day test session. Busch's new crew chief, Roy McCauley said, "Today, Goodyear is looking at wear, heat, overall lap times, grip level and load. Based on all the data taken during the test, they will choose the tire that will not generate too much heat, but provide enough grip to make the driver comfortable." Edwards posted the fastest unofficial time of the day with a lap of 189.993 mph (29.18 seconds), while Busch's fastest lap was 187.869 mph (29.51 seconds).

Busch_miller_gold Like his younger brother Kyle, Kurt Busch began his racing career in his native Las Vegas. After winning titles in Dwarf and Hobby Stock cars, and a rookie of the year award in the Southwest Touring Series, Busch signed with Jack Roush and began to race in the Craftsman Truck Series in the year 2000. Kurt finished second to future Cup teammate Greg Biffle that year, taking rookie of the year honors in the series.

Kurt Busch was born on August 4, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Gaye and Tom Busch. Tom was a mechanic and tool dealer from the Chicago area. His father had raced on dirt ovals throughout the midwest in the post-war years, and Tom followed in his footsteps. He and Gaye moved to Las Vegas in 1972, where he continued to race in Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Tom won several NASCAR-sanctioned late-model events and a couple of regional titles, and then switched to dwarf cars when NASCAR started handicapping him.
