Kristin Kreuk: Edgemont
built 634 days ago
Few actors are lucky enough to have one hit TV series, but Kreuk had the good fortune — and the talent — to land two, both filmed in her hometown of Vancouver. This exotic, raven-haired beauty got her start in 2000 while still a high-school senior, when she responded to a casting call for the Canadian teen soap Edgemont. The very next year, she became a superstar on Smallville. Her unique looks and easygoing sophistication kept her in demand, and somehow Kreuk managed to film both shows simultaneously, until 2005 when Edgemont ended.

Since Edgemont is filmed in Vancouver, Kristin stayed at her parents' house as her star rose. Her character, Laurel Yeung, is the mysterious pretty girl from out of town, and she is one of the favorites on the Canadian semi-melodrama, which can ... be seen on the FOX Family Channel.

Fate came calling her senior year of high school when the casting director of a new TV series, "Edgemont" (2000), sent a fax to her school. They wanted an exotic looking girl to play the part of Laurel.

Her parents are Peter Kreuk (of Dutch descent) and Deanna Che (of Chinese descent). In high school she practiced gymnastics but she had to quit in the eleventh grade because of scoliosis. After she graduated from Eric Hamber Secondary School in Vancouver she planed to study psychology, environmental science, or forensic science at Simon Fraser University but she renounced when a cast director asked her to play in the CBC TV series "Edgemont".
