One of the many monuments to the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) Accommodation in Kosovo can be expensive, meaning it is probably the same as hotels in sourrounding countries (starts at 25 EUR and goes over 100 EUR) and primarily is designed for people working for the development agencies. Your best bet on finding a place to stay is outside of Prishtina (if you're with the car) and to have a contact there ahead of time (even if its just somebody you met over the internet) and stay with them. Or possibly contact some of the smaller development organisations, such as Balkan Sunflowers, and ask if they can help you with accommodation staying in a rural community.

After the Kosovo intervention, President Clinton said that people everywhere, victims of mass crimes, would know that "we" will save them. Is he speaking about the moral responsibility of the U.S. or about the responsibility of the international community?

A new set of KLA attacks in mid-August triggered Yugoslavian operations in south-central Kosovo-Metohija south of the Pristina-Pec road. This wound down with the capture of Klecka on 23 August and the discovery of a KLA-run crematorium in which some of their victims were found. The 1st of September featured a KLA offensive around Prizren, causing Yugoslavian military activity there. In Metohija, around Pec, another offensive caused condemnation as international officials expressed fear that a large column of displaced people would be attacked. This followed the fall of Donji Ratis where the KLA kept a mass grave; about 60 bodies were found there of recently "disappeared" Serbs and other Kosovo citizens.

German,Italian and Turkish are ... quite common.

MilosevicÃs forces responded by an all-out campaign to ethnically cleanse Kosovo of its Albanian population, driving hundreds of thousands across the border into Macedonia, Albania, and Montenegro. Heavily armed Serb paramilitary forces, infamous for their tactics in Croatia and Bosnia, descended on Kosovo. At gunpoint they forced thousands of people from their homes, burning their towns and villages afterward. Many civilians were summarily executed. Most had all their money taken and their documents destroyed. Without any independent journalists and human rights monitors left in the region, it is impossible to tell the full extent of the atrocities though many, including UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, have called it genocide.
" Pristina YOU see, if you were a Serb, you might observe nothing here except a charming rural cemetery in the south of Kosovo. The blue sky, the tumbling hills, the babbling birds. You would point triumphantly at the hollyhocks that have been put by the mounds of earth. And you would shut your mind to the fly-buzzing evil of the place. Okay, so a lot of people would seem to have died at once, you might say. Perhaps there was a nasty dose of Spanish flu in the village, heh, heh.
