Korn is a nu-metal band from Bakersfield, California. They have been credited with creating the nu-metal; genre of music as well as inspiring a new generation of nu-metal, alternative metal and rap metal bands in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. They have ... assisted bands such as Limp Bizkit, Staind, and Incubus.
Korn is the best band on this planet. it was sad to see head leave the band but they will be fine with out him. No one puts more heart and soul in his lyrics than JD.

Korn formed after the group L.A.P.D. folded, due to singer Richard Morrill's drug addiction. Musicians Reginald Arvizu, James Shaffer, and David Silveria wanted to continue, and so recruited the guitarist Brian Welch and then began the search for a new lead singer. One night in 1993, Welch and Shaffer were in a nightclub together, and were intending to stay for only a few minutes. This changed once a band called Sexart took to the stage. They were intrigued by the singer, Jon Davis, and approached him after the gig was finished.
Korn - Freak on a Leash (Unplugged) f/ Amy Lee Issues followed in 1999, and in typical Korn fashion they debuted their new single in an episode of South Park. The band toured behind the album into the next year, but their efforts were cut short by an injury that took out drummer David Silveria. They hired former Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin to help them finish the remaining shows, and took a short rest before joining a summer tour with Metallica, Kid Rock, Powerman 5000, and System of a Down. (Silveria later returned amid rumors of leaving the band for a fashion career, but these stemmed from some modeling work he had done before his injury.) In the meantime, Fieldy released a gangsta rap album and Davis scored the film Queen of the Damned, but at the end of 2001 the band reunited as a unit and entered the studio. A few shows with Static-X helped iron the wrinkles out of the new material, and by the next summer they had Untouchables ready for release. Korn did a run of Ozzfest dates in support, and the album was another smash hit.

Later in 1993, Korn began a working process with friend and producer Ross Robinson. Neidermeyer's Mind was released that same year, containing 4 songs: "Predictable," "Blind", "Daddy", and "Alive". "Blind" was originally written by Davis and Sexart, but was revised with new lyrics. Korn had problems getting signed during its first year, due to the 1990s rock scene, which was primarily grunge. After many attempts at a record deal, Paul Pontius from Immortal/Epic Records heard the band in a nightclub. He was so impressed with the band that he signed them on the spot.[7] With a producer and a label, Korn started work on their self-titled debut album.
Korn Korn originally formed as LAPD (which stood for Love And Peace Dude... rumored to be Laughing As People Die), which consisted of all five members apart from singer Jonathan Davis and guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. They later changed their name to Creep and added guitarist Brian Welch. When Davis joined the band in 1993, they began styling their name as 'KoЯn' (with a backwards letter "R"), releasing their debut album, Korn, through Epic/Immortal Records in October, 1994. Korn is arguably the album most responsible for the rise of nu metal and influencing later nu metal bands such as Limp Bizkit.
