Konami's old logo Konami is one of Japan's most well-known video game developers and publishers. They were founded in 1969 by Kagemasa Kozuki. They've been developing video games for pretty much every major console in the history of video games. Now they are one of the biggest players in the game industry, being the publisher of such established franchises as Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, Dance Dance Revolution, Contra, and Silent Hill. Konami, at one point, had split it's gaming divisions into many seperate entitites, but on April 1, 2005 they merged these back into one gigantic gaming empire.
By 2002, Konami was generating over $1.7 billion in revenues, making it one of the largest and fastest-growing companies in the industry. Publicly traded since 1988 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange, and listed on the NYSE in 2002, Konami now has over 2000 employees, with offices in North and South America, Europe and Asia, and several studios in Japan. The worldwide headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan. The main U.S. offices are located in Redwood City, California.

"In Soviet Japan, Konami own YOU!" During the war against the powerful Sakai-syū, Konami had to sent spies into its midst. However, identification of and amongst the spies proved problematic, as the Sakai-syū had hired many Contra commandoes who would shoot any newcomers that were seen whispering in the corner. er, in the air. Unlike in most stealth games, these guards didn't just get suspicious -- they fired at you without question! Talk about difficulty! Authentic Sakai-syū operatives would survive the attack as they had specially-tailored bulletproof armour embedded into their bodies.
Konami has ... confirmed that Contra mainstays Bill Rizer and Lance Bean will be making a return in this game, which will take place two years after Contra III: The Alien Wars. Although the Red Falcon has been annihilated, the pair must now face a new force, known only as the "Black Viper".

In February 2003, Konami adopted a new logo for its 30th anniversary. This was the previous logo. (1986–2003)Konami began to achieve great success when the Famicom took off, being released in the United States as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Many of the NES/Famicom's bestselling titles were produced by Konami, including Gradius, the Castlevania series, the Contra series, and Metal Gear. Konami was one of the most active and prolific third party development studios for the NES, which led to conflict with Nintendo of America's licensing restrictions. During the heyday of the NES, Nintendo of America controlled the production of all licensed NES software titles, and limited third party developers to a maximum of five titles per year.
Konami has announced that they will begin selling their products directly to customers via their new online storefront, KonamiStyle.com. The online storefront launches with a catalog of 75 Konami titles, including fan-favorite franchises Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Yu-Gi Oh, and Dance Dance Revolution. The move to a direct-sales website will ... open up possibilities for Konami to offer customer incentive and reward programs, which Konami hopes will help maintain a community of loyal gamers around the publisher's many games.
