Koi Kaze was first broadcast on TV Asahi in 2004. However, the station only aired twelve episodes. The episode, "Dew Frost", was later made and streamed on the official Geneon website. It has aired in reruns and included in the DVD release as the eighth episode.

It might be beneficial for people to know that the Koi tattoo (and most tottoos in Japan) are linked in the public mind with the Japanese Mafia. There are even signs in public baths that say "No Tattoos". This could be why Kat Von D. won't do them.

There are 3 pairs of otoliths or ear stones in the inner ear of a Koi. The largest pair of Otoliths, the sagittae, are routinely used for aging. So Otolith is synonymous with sagitta. Again you count the number of annular rings under a microscope. White bands are formed during the spring and summer months, while darker bands are formed during winter. The Koi's age can be approximated by counting the light and dark bands as one year.

The next step is to draw on two roughly semi-circular shapes on either side of your Koi's head. Then draw on another semi-circle in the middle of the other two. This will form your Koi's crest. Draw on one extra line inside your Koi's head to create a triangle at the top.
