The Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) is a thickset arboreal marsupial herbivore native to Australia, and the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae. The Koala is found all along the eastern coast of Australia from near Adelaide to the southern part of Cape York Peninsula, and as far into the hinterland as there is enough rainfall to support suitable forests. The Koalas of South Australia were largely exterminated during the early part of the 20th century, but the state has since been repopulated with Victorian stock. The Koala is not found in Tasmania or Western Australia.

Koala digits are arranged differently on the front and hind paws, although they all have rough pads to aid their grip. On the front paw the first two digits are opposite to the other three ,and form a powerful pincer-like grip . On the hind paws only the first digit which has no claw is opposite the others the second and third digits are joined together for the most of their length and the fused claws are used for grooming there fur. In the skeleton the Koala has a small vertical tail and long limbs. The Koala has around 50 bones.

As he feeds solely on eucalypt leaves and drinks the condensation that collects upon them, the Koala never needs to venture to the ground. The leaves contain strong smelling oils that act as a bug repellent, keeping the animal free from parasites. They ... make the Koala smell like very strong cough lollies.

Interestingly, the Koala is not found in Western Australia nor is it found in Tasmania. Not only are they herbivores, but ... their diet consists mainly of Eucalyptus leaves. They have very slow digestive systems and due to this they are a very slow moving animal. The Koala sleeps up to nineteen hours per day, the remaining five hours is spent eating and gathering food.

While the plot and characters are highly entertaining, the interface makes Koala Lumpur a unique and fun experience. Instead of the typical point-and-click cursor setup where the player uses the mouse to search the screen for active areas and objects, in this game the mouse turns into an animated fly which is ... a character in the game. As Koala's familiar, Fly buzzes around the colorful and highly detailed screens searching for clues to puzzles and picking up objects, including Dingo's brain matter. In addition to leading Koala and Dr. Dingo around, Fly can leave and explore the other areas without his pals.
