Kismet: Kismet Server
built 213 days ago
Kismet has three separate parts. A drone can be used to collect packets, and then pass them on to a server for interpretation. A server can either be used in conjunction with a drone, or on its own, interpreting packet data, and extrapolating wireless information, and organizing it. The client communicates with the server and displays the information the server collects.
The new Kismet server in some cases sends unbalanced quoted strings during packet capture and that throws gkismet into endless loop while trying to find the closing quote. The symptoms are hanging during packet dump and eating up memory in an endless loop.
Kismet is designed with a client/server architecture. While most users run both the client and server on the same machine and simply use Kismet as a local application, you can ... run Kismet clients on remote systems. This way, one or more remote machines can see real-time data from the machine hosting the Kismet server.
