DALLAS, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strategic e-government initiative needed a strong security foundation to instill trust in its more citizen-centric environment -- especially as it rolled out its new national ID card initiative. To address this challenge, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) standardized on two solutions from Entrust, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENTU) in conjunction with Entrust local partner Moammar Information Systems. MCIT will leverage Entrust Authority PKI and Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server for encryption, digital signatures and authentication capabilities to underpin its national ID project, as well as secure e-mail.
In the meantime, the Kingdom has already prepared comprehensive humanitarian assistance in the form of foodstuffs, medicine and shelter to deal with a potential large influx of refugees. In 1991, Saudi Arabia cared for more than 150,000 refugees from neighboring countries. If this scenario again arises, the Kingdom will do everything it can to provide for them.
