Kilmarnock is a town in Lancaster County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,244 at the 2000 census. It is located near the mouth of the Rappahannock River and a good place for boaters and fishermen. There is a small hospital in the town.

Looking out over the Chesapeake Bay and located in the Northern Neck of Virginia, the rural town of Kilmarnock is a quiet community with great conveniences. The town is greatly located less than two hours from Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach and Richmond. The town of Kilmarnock is very close to large expressways that provide convenient travel to airports, shopping and other big cities amenities.

Kilmarnock had one of the earliest tram/railways in the world, running to Troon over the (recently restored) Laigh Milton Viaduct. The Glasgow and South Western Railway ... set up their works here, producing nearly 400 locomotives by the time it was absorbed by the LMS in 1923. Some work continued but heavy repairs were sent to St Rollox. Locomotive repairs finished in 1952 and the works closed in 1959. Nevertheless locomotives are still made by Hunslett-Barclay, as well as the maintenance of existing diesel and electric multiple units. Hunslett-Barclay have also been involved in the conversion of redundant locomotives into units suitable for new tasks.

Kilmarnock has many pubs and restaurants to choose from. Most pubs screen live football matches and serve basic pub grub until around 8pm, but don't count on anything more sophisticated than pie and chips.

Unable to clear their lines by using the wind Kilmarnock soaked up more pressure as the home side pressed for a score. A breakdown in attack allowed Johnny Bradford to thump a low diagonal kick into the home 22 area. Kilmarnock won possession from the lineout, centre Allan Spiers headed towards the line and fellow centre Stewart Pratt battered his way through the despairing home defence to score a try. Ben Greentree converted to give Kilmarnock the lead for the first time 14-10 midway through the half. In the remaining quarter Kilmarnock defended stoutly as the home side tried to regain the lead. Kilmarnock held on to record another league win albeit playing below par at times.

Kilmarnock joined the Scottish League in 1895 and after winning consecutive Second Division titles were elected to the top flight for the first time in 1899. For much of their history they have been one of the most successful clubs based outwith Scotland's major cities. They have reached the Scottish Cup final eight times, winning the trophy on three occasions. Despite five appearances in the final , they have yet to lift the Scottish League Cup.
