Kid Rock

A self-proclaimed redneck from the midwestern United States, Kid Rock turned a catchy mix of rap and country-influenced hard rock into pop stardom with his 1998 release Devil Without A Cause. He grew up near Detroit, Michigan, but in 1991 he moved to New York City to further his career. Although he had landed his first record contract in 1990, record labels weren't quite sure how to promote a white rapper who blended heavy metal and country rock. His albums The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Mornin' Stone Pimp (1996) featured lyrics too nasty to play on the radio, but relentless touring and a gift for self-promotion earned Kid Rock a cult following. By 1999 he and his band, Twisted Brown Trucker, were performing in arenas and causing sparks on MTV. In 2000 Kid Rock released The History of Rock, a collection of re-mixes and older material.

After reacquiring the rights to his early material in 2000, Kid Rock released The History of Rock, a collection of remixed and re-recorded songs. The only new track, "American Bad Ass", sampled the Metallica track "Sad But True". The song was later used as pro wrestler The Undertaker's entrance song in World Wrestling Entertainment. In the summer of 2000, Kid Rock joined the Summer Sanitarium Tour with Metallica, Korn, Powerman 5000, and System of a Down. Kid Rock filled in for James Hetfield of Metallica for three shows after Hetfield was injured at Kid Rock's house while riding a four wheeler. Later that year, he joined Phish on stage for several songs at a concert in Las Vegas.

Rap-rocker Kid Rock was stunned when he bumped into ex-fiancee Pamela Anderson in France earlier this month, because he realized he is still in love with the busty beauty. The former Baywatch star ended their 14-month engagement in June 2003 after they dated for two years. In recent months, Anderson has been linked to Backbeat actor Stephen Dorff and British TV presenter Steve Jones. However, the couple stunned Hollywood on Tuesday when they announced they were dating again and would wed on July 29 onboard a yacht moored off St Tropez in the south of France. The pair bumped into each other on a boat owned by a mutual pal and realized they still care deeply for each other. Kid Rock, real name Robert James Richie, tells People magazine, "It was like we'd never been apart.

Pamela Anderson has filed for divorce from husband Kid Rock. The actress/model and the rocker both filed for dissolution of marriage at the beginning of the week but Anderson has won the race to the divorce courts.
