Sana, Kia and Tressie are Kansas City portrait photographers who photograph children, babies, families and high school seniors. Across the pond, Kia has been offering discounts for parents based on the number of new kids they have, starting at £500 for people who have only one child all the way up to a free car for parents of quintuplets. And really, what's the point of having five kids if you don't get a free Kia out of it? Turns out a family just had quintuplets in an Oxford hospital, but Kia is balking on the prize. more

The European range expanded in 1994 when Kia began importing the larger Mentor, a range of medium sized hatchbacks and saloon which were marketed as cheap and well-equipped alternatives to the likes of the Ford Escort and Vauxhall/Opel Astra. A facelift in 1999 saw the Mentor name retained for the saloon, but the hatchback was renamed Shuma. These models remained on sale until 2004, when the newer Cerato was launched and gave Kia one of its first serious competitors for mainstream brands.

The Kia Sportage may not look too big from the outside, but the interior has plenty of headroom and legroom, both in the front and the back. The rear seats split and fold flat for a level cargo floor and a maximum of 67 cubic feet of storage. Fit and finish is impressive, and the Sportage provides a surprising number of safety features for its class. There are a total of six standard airbags, including front- and side-impact airbags for driver and passenger, and side curtain airbags for front- and rear-seat occupants. Traction control and four-wheel antilock disc brakes are standard on all trims.
