Kevin Spacey does NOT sound better than Bobby Darin. Bobby was in a class all his own. There will never be another one like him. Nor will there ever be another one as cute and as funny as he was.

KEVIN Spacey (above), who played Bobby Darin in "Beyond the Sea," has now sung a couple of duets with Dean Martin. Spacey, who's been busy on Broadway in "A Moon for the Misbegotten," recently was in Capitol Records' legendary Studio A, in Hollywood, singing "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" and "King of the Road" with Dino's original vocals for the new "Dean Martin: Forever Cool" CD. Others on the disc include Charles Aznavour, Joss Stone and Martina McBride. Spacey may have seen a ghost. During a break, he said, "Holy ba-joley! He's in the room. He's definitely in the room!"

Despite the film's lukewarm reception at the box-office, Spacey, who received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance, was satisfied that the film helped to introduce Darin to a new generation and ... spurred sales of Darin's CD catalog. Shortly after the film's release, Spacey even took his portrayal of Darin on the road, touring nine cities with a 19 member band.

Spacey proved his ability to imitate Darin on the "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" album, singing "That Old Black Magic" as a tribute to the performer. Spacey repeated when he sang during his hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live."

How all this will affect Spacey's acting career is hard to say. He has no need to worry about his status in Hollywood. After all, he has two Oscars and a Tony award. His next film is the Bobby Darin story, which doesn't seem promising — but you never know.
