Kenny Troutt: Winstar Farm
built 629 days ago
WinStar Farm, under the name of Lisa Troutt, wife of the farm's co-owner Kenny Troutt, purchased Weekend in Indy, the dam of Any Given Saturday, for $290,000 at the 2000 Keeneland November mixed sale. Weekend in Indy was in foal to Carson City at the time of the auction.

On September 25, 1993, Troutt married his second wife, Lisa E. Copeland (b. 1963), who was an independent Excel Rep. They have three children together and live in Dallas, Texas. He co-owns the WinStar Farm operation in Kentucky, a acre ( km²) state-of-the-art thoroughbred breeding and training centre. Currently Mr. Troutt serves on the Board of Trustees of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association and on the Board of Directors of the Breeders' Cup.

Playing a less prominent role among shoppers this year was Kenny Troutt, who spent more money than anyone else at last year's sale. Through his wife, Lisa, he paid $14,845,000 for 20 head in 2000. WinStar Farm, in which Troutt is a partner, invested $632,000 in four horses last year and was active again in 2001. However, Troutt did not purchase any horses this year in either his or his wife's name after buying five mares for $1 million or more in 2000.

Raised in the housing projects near East St. Louis, Illinois, Troutt got into Thoroughbred racing through an uncle. After graduation from Southern Illinois University, he entered business in Omaha, Nebraska. Troutt owned nearby Land View Farm for six years until 1982, when he moved to Dallas.
