Braving snowy N.Y. weather while out for a walk in the SoHo neighborhood with beau of at least a year, Rupert Friend, Keira Knightley was somehow able to keep warm despite her thin frame. Phew.

She didn't know what an agent was, but as mum and dad were both actors, they were forever calling the house, and the young lady thought she'd better get one of her own. A few years later her dream came true when she made her acting debut in a TV adaptation of Joanna Trollope's A Village Affair.

Actress Keira Knightley has beaten out Scarlett Johansson and Judy Garland to land the honor of being the greatest Hollywood starlet at 21 years of age. Garland, the star of “The Wizard Of Oz,” came in second and Johansson, who is ... 21, came in third, Life Style Extra reported Tuesday. A spokeswoman for the poll conducted by Yahoo!.com, said, “A starlet is an actress who people instantly think of as being young, vivacious, stylish, popular and, most of all, talented.”

Most kids like to join in with whatever their parents are up to, and Keira was no exception. At the age of 3, noticing that both Will and Sharman were getting regular calls from their respective agents, the young girl demanded one of her own. She was, of course, politely refused, but was insistent in her requests for the next several years. By the time she was 6, her mother struck a bargain with her. As the child had recently been diagnosed as dyslexic, she said that if Keira came to her every day of the summer holidays and spent an hour working on her reading and maths, she would provide her with professional representation. This challenge was important.

In 1994, when Keira was only 9-years-old, she played Natasha Jordan in the movie A Village Affair. One year later, she played the young Celia Graves in the movie Innocent Lies (aka Halcyon Days.) The role that made her famous to some degree was that of Sab¨¦ - Queen Amidala's most trusted handmaiden, decoy, and best friend - in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (released in 1999). More
