In later years, Keel was less than complimentary to this film. "It was a fine cast," he said, "and lots of fun to make, but they did the damn thing on the cheap. The backdrops had holes in them and it was shot on the worst film stock.

The Keel-Cam allows for an underwater video feed from the hull down for keel inspection. The video feed is composite, permitting a hookup to just about any display including TV, Computer, LCD Monitor or even a Radar equipped with composite in!

His first book, Jadoo, was published before Keel was 30. Although it was well reviewed, it did not have a huge impact at the time. In it, Keel goes on site (as would continue to be the case throughout his career) to investigate "Jadoo", or Asian black magic. In what would become his characteristic first person style, Keel absolutely involves himself in the story. Here is Keel describing his life in the second chapter of that book:
