   Kathie Lee Gifford seems to be on a new path, and it has taken her Under the Bridge. The former talk show queen wrote the family-friendly new musical with composer David Pomeranz. Although Gifford is a gifted performer, she does not have an acting role in the show. These days the lady is behind the scenes! The musical, which is based on the Newbery Medal-winning book, Family Under the Bridge, debuted on January 6 at off-Broadway's Zipper Theatre. It tells the tale of a Paris hobo who finds a homeless family trying to live day by day underneath "his bridge."

   TV talk show host Kathie Lee Gifford is in the middle of a storm over claims that fashionable women's clothing carrying her designer label is made by Honduran children working 13 hours per day under near-starvation conditions. A spokesperson for Gifford says they didn't know, and that they've severed all ties with the plant in question. The Scripps Howard News Service has distributed the story nationwide this morning.

   Kathie Lee Gifford was beaming with smiles as she welcomed former co-host and longtime friend Regis Philbin to the Zipper Theatre on January 11. "Reege" showed his support for Gifford and David Pomeranz's Under the Bridge, which debuted on January 6. Of course, Philbin and Gifford are known for their loving banter on the long-running morning talk show, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. Reuniting at the off-Broadway musical, they proved that Gifford's departure in 2000 is all water under the bridge.

   In 1996, investigators from the National Labor Committee discovered teenage women sewing clothes for the apparel line of Kathie Lee Gifford, the actress, singer and co-host of television talk-show Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee. The clothing, produced at the Global Fashion plant in Honduras, was deemed to have come from a sweatshop in which 13- to 15-year-old girls worked up to 75 hours a week at a reported 31 cents per hour.

   "It's about faith, but it's not about religion," Kathie Lee Gifford says of her new musical about early-20th-century evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson. "Saving Aimee," with book and lyrics by Gifford and music by David Pomeranz and David Friedman, is having its world premiere at Signature Theatre through May 13.
8. Kelly Ripa -- Regis Philbin
   Kelly Ripa left “Live with Regis & Kelly” this morning about halfway through the show due to illness. The show, broadcast live from the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, featured Kelly Ripa early on seeming to have low energy. She got through the opening and an interview with Tim Gunn from “Project Runway,” but was not seen again for the rest of the show.
9. Cybill Shepherd -- Martha Stewart Living
   CYBILL Shepherd has played Martha Stewart in two made-for-TV movies - so it's quite likely Stewart would want to see Shepherd cry. An insider says Stewart had someone "rush deliver" a tape to her of Kathie Lee Gifford's interview with Shepherd on "The Insider," which aired last week. In the interview, "Cybill starts crying when she talks about Martha in prison and how deplorable the conditions were." A rep for Stewart said, "Martha did not request that tape," while "The Insider" declined comment.
10. David Letterman -- New York
    David Letterman said farewell to his Grizzly Adams look Monday when two barbers sliced off his woolly beard as part of his late-night show. He ... joked about a series of Daily News photo illustrations portraying him with a variety of beard styles.
