Griffin began making people laugh at the Groundlings, where she performed for seven years. In 1994, she pursued her career as a stand-up comedian, which started with appearances at various Los Angeles venues. Griffin then went to create and star in "Hot Cup of Talk" an alternative stand-up show performed and the Groundlings Theater. The successful show featured such comics as Janeane Garofalo, Julie Sweeney, Margeret Cho, Dana Gould and Andy Dick among others. Most recently, Griffin completed her own "HBO 1/2 hr Comedy Special" and was a corespondent for HBO at the 1997 Aspen Comedy Festival.
