Kate Mulgrew will replace the previously announced Victoria Clark in Charles Mee's Iphigenia 2.0, the first play in Signature Theatre Company's forthcoming season. Clark had to bow out because of a schedule conflict, according to a news release. Mulgrew will play Clytemnestra in this New York premiere running August 7 through September 30 at Signature's Peter Norton Space off-Broadway, directed by Tina Landau.

Kate Mulgrew, who plays Capt. Kathryn Janeway on UPN's "Star Trek: Voyager," wants to leave the show, reported New York's Daily News. The paper said Mulgrew is tired of 80-hour work weeks, and she wants to devote more time to her teen-age children and upcoming marriage to Tim Hagan, a Cleveland politician. Mulgrew ... complained Friday to TV critics in California that she was fed up with Hollywood because it lacks intimacy and a sense of community. Kate Mulgrew grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, the oldest girl in a family of eight. She left home at the age of 17 and traveled to New York City to study acting. Upon arriving there, Mulgrew enrolled at New York University and was accepted into Stella Adler's Conservatory. At the end of her junior year, Mulgrew left the university to commit herself full-time to her craft.

At 17, Mulgrew enrolled at New York University and its adjunct, the Stella Adler Conservatory, studying with actress Adler herself and acquiring a strong foundation in theater. Mulgrew says she was "always passionate about acting." Mulgrew quit school in her junior year for her first major role, Mary Ryan, in the daytime drama "Ryan's Hope" in 1975. She increased her fame with the TV series "Mrs. Columbo" - later called "Kate Loves a Mystery."
