Kasey Kahne: Season
built 606 days ago
Kahne landed a part-time NASCAR Busch Series ride during the 2002 season. Without an abundance of resources behind him, Kahne made the most of the year, highlighted by a top-10 finish at Michigan International Speedway in August. One year later, Kahne earned his first Busch Series win and scored four top-five and 14 top-10 finishes in route to a seventh-place finish in the series point standings.

On September 9, 2006, Kahne successfully raced his way into the Chase for The Cup by finishing third in Richmond. He was the 10th and last qualifier for the Chase. He edged defending Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart out by 16 points, but a disappointing crash at Dover made an impact on Kahne's 8th place finish for the season. Kahne ... won 2 Busch Series races in '06.

For Kahne, who won six races in 2006 - his third season in Nextel Cup, a lap-four tangle with Jeff Green made it look like it might be a long night for Kahne. The crew worked to repair the damage to the left front and a decision to stay on the track rather than pit with 25 laps remaining made the different in track position. Kahne restarted second and finished ninth, just his second top-10 this season. Both are at Daytona.

After winning six races in 2006, Kahne has slumped again. Although, his 2007 finish wasn't as bad as his 2005 season, Khane only pulled off one top-five. However, he finished in the top-10 eight times and won two poles for a 19th place in points standings.

The next day during the Sharpie 500, Kahne dominated most of the race leading 305 of 500 laps and finished 2nd to Carl Edwards. This was his best finish of the 2007 season.
