The “SexyBack” singer, who made news around the world in 2004 for his shocking performance with Janet Jackso during the big game, is working on a commercial for Pepsi. The biggest controversy in Justin Timberlake's career erupted following the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. During a performance with Janet Jackson, he tore off a portion of her costume as planned, but, unfortunately, more of the costume came off than intended briefly baring one of Jackson's breasts. Justin Timberlake said to the press that he was "sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction" which instantly added the term "wardrobe malfunction" as a national catch phrase.

After the Super Bowl controversy, Timberlake put his recording career on hold in an attempt to jumpstart his acting career. Timberlake had a few minor acting roles during his early music career, including a bit part as a model in the 2000 made-for-television film Model Behavior, and a cameo in the 2001 film On the Line, but was seeking more substantial roles. The first role he took during this time was as a journalist in the thriller Edison Force, which was filmed in 2004 and received a direct-to-video release on July 18, 2006. He ... appeared in the films Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, Richard Kelly's Southland Tales, and voiced a young King Arthur in the animated film Shrek the Third, released on May 18, 2007. He also appeared as a young Elton John, in the video for John's song "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore".

Alas, Timberlake’s road to success was not without its share of bumps In February 2004, the singer found himself thrust into the center of controversy as the result of a performance during the Super Bowl XXXVIII half-time show. Scheduled to sing “Rock the Body†live on-stage alongside Janet Jackson, Timberlake surprised audiences with an especially sultry rendition and sexually suggestive choreography. At the climax of the song, Timberlake tore off a part of Jackson’s black leather outfit as part of a planned costume reveal. As part of her outfit detached... Jackson’s right breast – complete with metal nipple cover – was briefly exposed before 140 million viewers worldwide. The fallout from this so-called “wardrobe malfunction†was surprisingly intense. The next day, CBS (the network that aired the Super Bowl that year) issued a press release, expressing outrage over the incident.

Jermaine Dupri doesn’t mince words when discussing the star factor of Justin Timberlake in his new autobiography "Young, Rich and Dangerous." The veteran music producer is still sour about Timberlake's unwillingness to stand up for his girlfriend Janet Jackson following her Super Bowl "wardrobe malfunction" debacle - when it was Timberlake who removed the fabric to expose Jackson's breast in the first place. Dupri writes: "I think Justin Timberlake is a talented performer. But he's very ordinary-looking. He could be any skinny white kid from the suburbs of Orlando. You could go to the mall and find another Justin.
