No. 4 seed Jurgen Melzer was looking to lift a first career trophy in front of his home crowd. The Vienna native, who is turning 24 on Sunday, was playing in his first final of the year and second overall career final (Newport 2003), having reached the semifinals in San Jose and Houston earlier in the season.

Andy has progressed to the fourth round of the Australian Open with his three sets victory over Austria’s Jurgen Melzer 6-2, 6-2, 7-5. Andy proved too much for Melzer to handle in the first set, as some big serving and good baseline play saw him take the advantage. A powerful forehand on set point gave Andy the early lead.

Unseeded Eric Butorac and Jamie Murray defeated No. 2 seeds Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer 7-5, 6-3, to capture the doubles title on Sunday at the Racquet Club of Memphis. It was the first doubles final to feature four players serving left-handed since June 24, 1995 in Nottingham as Luke and Murphy Jensen defeated Patrick Galbraith and Danie Visser.
