Allyson married the famous movie star Dick Powell in 1945. He was 13 years her senior. It was quite uncommon for a couple to marry with such a gap in age in those days, but quite common at the present time. They had two children, Pamela A. Powell, an adopted child, and Richard Powell, Jr. June Allyson and Dick Powell remained married until Dick Powell’s death in 1963. During the early seventies she was briefly married to Glen Maxwell. In 1976, she married David Ashrow, a dentist who had become an actor.

In 1945, Allyson married actor-director Dick Powell. They had two children. The marriage seemed like one of Hollywood's happiest, but it wasn't. A few months after Powell's death in 1963, Allyson married his barber, Glenn Maxwell. They separated 10 months later, and she sued for divorce, charging he abused her. In 1976, she married Ashrow.

Allyson had been in failing health since undergoing a hip-replacement surgery, and died at her home in Ojai, California on July 8, 2006. She was 88 years old. Her death was a result of pulmonary respiratory failure and acute bronchitis. Her husband of nearly 30 years, David Ashrow, was at her side.

Allyson died Saturday at her home in Ojai of pulmonary respiratory failure and acute bronchitis after a long illness, her daughter, Pamela Powell, told The Times on Monday. David Ashrow, Allyson's husband of 29 years, was at her side.

Besides Ashrow and her children, Allyson is survived by her brother, Dr. Arthur Peters, and her grandson, Richard Logan Powell. According to Pamela Powell, a private memorial service will be held in Ojai and a day of remembrance will be scheduled in the fall.
