Judy Davis is an Associate Professor in Visual Art and Foundation. She attended Mills College in California where she received her MFA in sculpture. She has taught at both the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and the Alberta College of Art. Her practice is idea-based and is manifest across a wide range of materials and techniques. She is presently designing, in collaboration with Dee Horne, at University Northern British Columbia a joint degree in Studio Arts and Creative Writing with Emily Carr Institute.

Judy Davis From All Movie Guide: Known for her intense intelligence and the range of unconventional characters she has brought to life, Australian actress Judy Davis has had a fairly brilliant career. Born in Perth, Western Australia, on April 23, 1955, Davis rebelled against her Catholic upbringing by leaving home at the age of 17 to join a rock band, which toured across Asia for six months. Upon her return to Australia, she soon gave up her singing career to attend the Western Australia Institute of Technology and then concentrated on another branch of performing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. At NIDA she trained with the likes of Mel Gibson, with whom she starred in a school production of Romeo and Juliet.
Judy Davis arrived at EPA from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. As the deputy director of the contracting office (she was later appointed director), she took the lead on an initiative to rebuild the shop from the ground up. Her idea, which prompted an improvement in customer attitudes about EPA, involved two simple steps: Give the staff more power, and have the management team spend more time devising new services for customers.

Shooting for “The Express,” the movie about the life of Ernie Davis, is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Chicago, a spokesman for the production company said today. Dave Fulton, the publicist for the production company, said some roles are still being cast. The only actors to be identified so far are the stars of the film: Dennis Quaid, as Ben Schwarzwalder, Davis’ football coach at Syracuse University; and Rob Brown, as Davis. The movie will focus on Davis’ playing career at Syracuse. The Elmira Free Academy graduate was the first black player to win the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded each season to college football’s most outstanding player.Davis, who grew up in Elmira and starred in three sports at EFA, won the award in 1961. In 1959 he led the Orange to its only football national championship.A first-round draft pick after college, Davis died of leukemia in 1963 before playing a game as a professional.
