Judi Dench Judi Dench's father was the official physician for the Theatre Royal, which inspired Dench toward acting. Her first role was as a snail in a grade school play, and her debut role with the Old Vic Company was the Virgin Mary, in 1957. She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1961, and has played Ophelia, Titania, Lady Macbeth, and hundreds of other roles on stage. On film, Dench's résumé stretches back to 1964, when she had a small role in the Stephen Boyd psychothriller The Third Secret. Her early film career sputtered, and one director famously told her after an audition, "Miss Dench, you have every single thing wrong with your face." She has won five BAFTAs (the British equivalent of Oscars), but for most Americans, she first drew attention when she was cast as "M", James Bond's boss in the 007 movies, beginning with GoldenEye in 1995.

Judi Dench is a racist. She said recently that black people don't believe in the NHS. All they believe in is beating up ill people. Scarey because these people often work in the NHS and they are pretty disgusted aswell.

Beloved British acting institution Judi Dench must hold the record for winning an Oscar with the least time spent on screen. Born in York, in 1934, she studied acting at London's Central School Of Speech And Drama, and spent most of her early career on the stage. Dench broke into film in 1964, in The Third Secret, and won a BAFTA for Most Promising Newcomer. She then divided her time between screen and stage, winning further awards for her performances in A Room With A View in 1986 and A Handful Of Dust two years later. Dench hit the big time in the 1990s, with an inspired take on M in Goldeneye (1995), and an Oscar nominated portrayal of Queen Victoria in Mrs Brown in 1997. She didn't win that year, but the Academy loved her performance in Shakepeare In Love so much, they gave her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar the following year, despite the fact she spent less than eight minutes on screen.

Judi Dench has frequently appeared with her close friend Geoffrey Palmer, in the series As Time Goes By and in the films Mrs. Brown and Tomorrow Never Dies, both filmed in 1997. Judi Dench has ... lent her incredible voice to many animated characters, narrations, and various other voice work. She plays the role of "Miss Lilly" in the children's animated series Angelina Ballerina (alongside her daughter, Finty Williams, as the voice of Angelina), as Mrs. Calloway in the Disney animated film "Home on the Range, she has narrated various classical music recordings (notably Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Night's Dream", and Britten's "Canticles-The Heart of the Matter"), numerous BBC radio broadcasts, as well as commercials. Her many television appearances include lead roles in the series A Fine Romance and As Time Goes By.
Dame Judi Dench. 2004 Laura (Judi Dench) is still unmarried at thirty-seven. Her sister Helen (Susan Penhaligon) would like to see her 'married off', so she tries a spot of matchmaking. She introduces Laura to Mike (Michael Williams) at a party. Laura and Mike don't really take to one another at first, but they pretend to get on well to keep Helen happy. As time goes by, a relationship develops, but it's very much an 'on-off' one.
JUDI DENCH BIOGRAPHY The respect in which Judi Dench is held, and her success, has been hard won. When she was just starting out, an older player once recalled, her voice was so croaky she sounded like she had laryngitis (hence that sign at the Nottingham Playhouse). In the hard world of stage acting, he believed, she had no chance. But, as always, she worked on it, put in the hours, and made it right. She is a genuine great.
